On the way from Kas to Kale Koy we stopped off for a few hours at the ancient, partially sunken, deserted town of Aperlae.  Apparently no-one had lived their for 14 thousand years.   Unfortunately the bay today seems to be a collecting point of floating detrius of the Med - we found all kinds of rubbish including hypodermic syringes - yikes.....  Given the submerged old quayside and the swell that rolls in, it is not a anchorage to be recommended except for a few hours to explore the surrounding ruins.  It isn't exactly pleasant swimming area either.

However, once ashore the hillside is littered with hundreds of ruined building and sarcophagi - wondering around the ancient town, completely alone was magical and my imagination conjoured many images of what it must have been like 2000 years ago.
